Many people have very important messages on their iPhones; it may be text message, MMS or iMessages. Either they can be important for your work or have sentimental values. And if you are changing your iPhone to a new one and want all your conversations on your new iPhone with all the messages then it can be an issue. So don’t worry we will tell you how you can backup all your text messages, MMS and iMessages and save them direct to your new iPhone.
Backup to iCloud
You can backup all your text messages on iCloud and can use that backup to restore your messages to your new iPhone. This technique is best if you are setting up a new iPhone because messages become the part of the wider backup and you will have to restore device’s settings and app data at same time that can remove any new conversation on your iPhone.
Now follow these simple steps to backup and restore messages:
  • Connect your old iPhone to power source and turn on Wi-Fi.
  • Now tap on settings > iCloud > backup or storage & backup.
  • Your iCloud backup should be turned on.
  • Tap on the backup now and wait for the backup process to complete. Don’t turn off the Wi-Fi, till the entire process is complete.
  • Now turn on your new iPhone and tap on the Restore from iCloud backup and next when asked. If you have already done with the process then you will have to reset your iPhone. To reset follow this path settings > general > reset and > erase all content and settings.
  • Now enter your Apple ID and Password.
Now you can check your iPhone will display all your messages from old iPhone along with all other apps, photos, emails and other app data.
Backup to Mac
If you don’t want to use the backup and restore process then you will need a third party app for this process. We will tell you this process by using the PhoneView. Here are the simple steps to show you how to use PhoneView to access the messages on your new iPhone:
  • Install the Phone View App.
  • Open and click on OK to the “PhoneView would like to access your contacts” window.
  • Now connect your iPhone to Mac using your USB cable.
  • Now a PhoneView alert window will appear, click on archive on it.
  • Select Messages from the sidebar and click on OK to the now loading phone data window. It will take few minutes for iPhone data to load into PhoneView program.
  • The name of person, you had conversation with will appear in the middle and you can select any conversation to view the text messages you have shared.
  • If you wish to save a conversation as a PDF file then drag the name of the person directly to the desktop.
  • If you want to extract all your messages select all and click copy from iPhone . Choose a location to save and then click on save.
You can also save the type of file PhoneView saves from PDF to text file, tab delimited file, CSV or XML. But unfortunately, you can’t copy these messages back into the Messages app. You can copy these messages to a compatible app on iPhone or email them or copy these files using iTunes File Sharing.
