If the reports are to be
believed, Microsoft's much-anticipated Windows 10 operating system will
be available for download from July 29. While, users of recent versions
of Windows will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost, the firm
would not offer the new operating system for free to those without
legitimate license of Microsoft’s software.
Microsoft also asserted that
new laptops and tablets running on Windows 10 will go on sale July 29.
However, Windows 10 for smartphones would be available by the end of
this year.
Microsoft had previously announced that it hopes to reach a billion people during first two to three years with its new operating system.
Windows 10 is all set to replace its age old Internet Explorer with Microsoft Edge. The latest browser is all set to have a new layout for new tabs, which seem to have a simple flat design approach, in-built sharing for social media and thumbnails of frequently visited websites.
The updated operating system would also bring Cortana, its voice-enabled virtual personal assistant. It will also come embedded with touch-enabled Office applications such as Word and Excel for smartphones and tablets.
News is also doing the rounds that Windows 10 will be the last version of the operating system by Microsoft. Though, the firm may constantly improve it by adding enhancements and updates, it might never think of replacing it. While, Windows 8 was not a universal success, Microsoft has a lot of expectation from Windows 10.
