When is WWDC 2015 and what time is the keynote?
First, let's get the basics established. WWDC 2015 is set to take place at the Moscone Centre in San Fancisco, California on 8 - 12 June. For most people, it's the keynote that's the important bit, as that's where Apple will show off what it's been working on behind the scenes. The keynote will take place on 8 June at 10 am Pacific time, which is 6pm here in the UK. You'll be able to watch it online, and we'll be providing a live blog with all of the first reactions and comments about the announcements. Read on to find out more.
Apple's annual developer conference is focussed on software, so iOS and OS X namely. However, the firm does like to use it to announce new products – not just on the software side of things.
WWDC 2015 what to expect: What will Apple launch?
WWDC 2015: iOS 9 and OS X
First things first, WWDC is the event where Apple announces new versions of its operating systems so we'll almost certainly see iOS 9 and the new version of Mac OS X 10.11. Apple introduced Yosemite last year and Mavericks the year previous.
WWDC 2015: Apple Music streaming service
Current rumours say that Apple will launch an Apple Music streaming service to rival Spotify during WWDC 2015. The service will be a result of Apple's acquisition of Beats last year, using technology from Beats Music.
WWDC 2015: New Apple TV
We've been waiting for a new Apple TV for a long time and it seems that WWDC 2015 will be when we finally get it. There was news at Apple's last event for the Apple Watch but it was a somewhat unexciting price drop – but that in itself pointed towards a new model this year.
WWDC 2015: Other hardware
It's looking good for a new Apple TV but it's also possible that Apple will unveil some other hardware at WWDC 2015. An update to the Mac Pro is on the list of potential new products, and we could even see a new, more powerful iPad dubbed iPad Pro. Less likely are some new Apple displays but we can only hope.
WWDC 2015: New iPhone 6S or iPhone 7?
While it's never out of the question, it's very unlikely that Apple will unveil a new iPhone at WWDC 2015. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus haven't been on sale very long and are still performing well in the market. Apple tends to launch new iPhones around September and we think it will stick to this tradition this year.
