Microsoft has announced an update to their Outlook app for both Android and iOS with a set of new features, rounding out the address book, calendar and search functions.

Over in the Calendar portion of the app, Outlook now has a three-day view available when a user sets their device in a landscape orientation. Outlook’s Calendar also supports zero-length meetings, a “remove from calendar” option to get rid of cancelled meetings, and an improved day picker when creating and editing meetings.

There are now actions tied to each contact. You can email them, start a phone call, map your way to their location, or see your previous correspondence. Outlook will be transforming the People section into an address book. Also, the 'top contacts' view has been replaced with a unified view of contacts from all saved email accounts. Upon selecting a contact, one will be able to view their contact details. send an email, start a phone call and even find a way to their location using a map. The app will also enable one to find all e-mails, meetings and files shared with the contact using quick-clicks.

Microsoft first released Outlook for Android and iOS in late January. The original app was essentially a rebranded version of Acompli, which Microsoft had purchased in December 2014. At the time, the firm promised that it would quickly update this new Outlook app so that it could remove previous mobile apps like OWA and Outlook.com from Google Play Store and App Store, and consolidate around this one app. But to do so, Outlook would need to pick up some missing features.
