While your phone may get destroyed if it falls into water, the new Apple Watch may actually survive. Though the user guide does not mention that the watch is ‘waterproof’, researchers have claimed that the watch works fine in watery conditions. The smartwatch went through a series of water tests before Apple Inc. could actually prove it.
In the first test, the Watch was taken for a five-minute shower, while in the next episode; the Apple Watch was fully submersed in water. Researchers then took things one step further, swimming with the smartwatch for 15 minutes.
Though, the touch screen did not work underwater, it did work absolutely fine, once taken out of the pool.
With these facts, Apple does not really encourage its users to swim wearing the watch, but at the same time, if it accidentally slips into a pool, you won’t have to worry much about it.
Meanwhile, Apple has already started shipping their much-awaited watches. According to the latest reports, Apple is expected to send at least 20 million Apple Watches this year. While it starts at $349, the standard model of the watch costs $549.
