Search giant Google has announced the release of Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA (Over-The-Air) update for its device, the Nexus 5 in the country. Users can now update their phones with the upgraded version of Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. 

The release was expected in India as it was released to some countries a few days ago.

Nexus devices are supposedly the first devices to receive an OS update immediately after Google pushes one out. The rule is applicable globally, including devices in India.


The Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the LG Nexus 5 (LMY47I) weighs 220.7 MB and improves performance and stability and fixes bugs according to Google. The new software also comes with some changes in the interface with size of apps being shrunk, making them look more sharp.

The new update brings to the table include; an improved Okay Google expe option to change system volume while playing improved heads-up notific improved HD voice-calling and battery life among others. The update has fixed bugs like Wi-Fi connectivity issue, duplicate SMS sending glitch and enhancements to sending MMS messages.
