Mobile messaging app WhatsApp is now working on devising a way by which users will be able to backup and restore chat history via Google Drive. 

Leaked strings from WhatsApp developers group suggest that it will soon integrate with Google Drive to backup chat history and media files. Users will also be able to restore history from Google Drive.


With this new feature users will be able to get their whole chats in just a matter few seconds. Retrieving personal chats would be easier, and convinent. Also, they would be able to retrieve not only group’s chat but also the broadcast messages and personal chats. This feature wont only store conversations, but also the last seen preferences and status updates history.

The upcoming backup feature has to do with the tedious process of backing up chat data, which is more of a task on Android smartphones. The Google Drive backup feature could be a unique and new platform for those who struggle with the current backup and restore feature.
