Google’s Android One project was started to further increase Android’s reach by bringing the latest updates of the operating system to low-cost, affordable phones, which form a major chunk of the smartphone market in developing countries.
While Android One users have been quite frustrated over Google’s inability to push Android Lollipop 5.0 updates to their phones, they can finally rejoice as Google has begun rolling out Android 5.1 OTA updates instead.
The beauty of Android One phones is that even though they are produced by a variety of manufacturers, their technical details are specified by Google, and are implemented uniformly, regardless of the brand behind the device.
This also means that preparing Android updates for these phones should be relatively simpler for Google in comparison with manufacturers like Samsung or Sony, who have to deal with a large variety of devices with varying hardware specifications.
A lot of the newer Android One devices available in Indonesia also come with Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box and older phones running Kitkat will be getting OTA updates. For now we recommend that you connect to a Wifi network regularly and check for updates.
If you don’t want to wait however, you can download the OTA files from the links below and flash them onto your Android One device at your own risk.

The process of updating via these zip files is very simple. You simply copy the file onto your phone’s memory, boot your phone into recovery mode and then flash it using that zip file. Once your device restarts it will configure Android 5.1 and that’s about it.
