Google has devised some new plans in their mind regarding telecom services now. The company is getting ready to sell mobile phone plans directly to customers and manage their calls and mobile data over a cellular network. The Information has reported the latest development, with knowledge from three insiders who are close to the development.

The new service is expected to run on Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks. Google will also try to make deals to purchase wholesale access to the carriers' mobile voice and data networks and they will be converted to a mobile virtual network operator or MVNO. The project has been codenamed 'Nova', and it's being headed by longtime Google executive Nick Fox. The project is expected to launch later this year. The report further adds that Google has been thinking about launching mobile phone plans for markets of Google Fiber Internet service.

It's not yet clear how much the Google wireless service will be expanded and how much will it cost or which mobile device manufacturers have already agreed to work with them for this new service. None among Google, T-Mobile and Sprint were available for immediate comment. The news has been re-confirmed by The Verge that the project is indeed underway. The MVNO rumours are nothing new for the likes of Google and Apple though. The reason behind such a project is quite simple, to gain better control over the devices which they sell and support.

Google is also looking forward to offer a better user-experience through their Project Nova. It's not easy to compete with the reputed carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile, but Google is trying hard. The company is also designing a creative plan pricing and they are testing several communication apps. Google wants to gain control over global Internet connection through Loon, drones and satellites in future. In the meantime launching an MVNO is very much possible as Nexus devices are already on the board along with their yet-to-be-announced phones. As per The Information report, Fox wanted to launch Project Nova last fall only and had also tested it among some employees.
